Supporting people is my life's calling.
My work in student affairs is rooted in the belief that I can contribute to the holistic learning experience students pursue during college. I am excited to work in the Residence Life department because it gives me the opportunity to live in a place where the magic happens. I believe that learning can positively affect a person's life, family, and community --which is why I am committed to being a life-long learner, right alongside students! I was born and raised in Southern California. My parents immigrated to the United States from Hidalgo, Mexico in the late 1980s. I am a product of the Head-Start program, a high school drop-out, and a community college attender. In 2011, I became the first person in my family to graduate from college. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, and then a Master of Science in Education in 2013. I have had the privilege of spending time in Mexico, Spain, Turkey, England, Japan, Laos, and Pakistan. I come to UCSB with my large collection of books and my senior chihuahua, Mr. Whiskers. My favorite authors include Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Richard Rohr, and Brené Brown. You can catch me watching fútbol, hammocking, or thrifting. I love hosting people, so please invite yourself over for dinner! |
