About MeHi! My name’s Jess Harris, and I’m currently a fifth year Psychological and Brain Sciences major with a minor in Black Studies. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California (South Central area), and I’m the oldest of three children. I’m also the first in my family to go to college. Being first-generation and coming from a low-income community meant I needed a lot of time adjusting to being a student at UCSB. In fact, I didn’t begin to feel at home here until the beginning of my fourth year. I’m excited to now be a resource and supporter for other students, especially those who need help adjusting or those feeling they may need more time to graduate.
When I’m not doing RA stuff, I’m helping provide for the campus community as a student assistant at the AS Food Bank. I’m also an Undergraduate Researcher in the Social Injustice and Social Change lab, where we investigate topics related to the perceptions of injustice, prejudice, and activism through a psychological framework. In my free time, I love listening to music, watching cartoons, and playing Roblox with my sister :) |
